      本片的内容提要是：牛家庄是一个平静富裕的北方山村，大憨老憨和小憨是三位酷爱民间戏剧表演艺术的农民，在人民政府的富民政策感召下，他们外出进城打工，在生活中积累了许多朴实的表演技巧。老憨的两个女儿是大憨和小憨的对象，同样也酷爱表演艺术，一家人将喜剧表演融入现实生活中，笑料百出，形成了自已独特的喜剧风格。一个偶然的机会，大憨和小憨为一台晚会解了围，从此一举成名。成名后，二人对爱情的认识发生了变化。大憨与农村养殖户朱丽叶始终相爱，小憨则见异思千，公然进行招亲选秀。由于一次车祸意外，小憨失去了记忆，生活不能自理，小翠一直在身边照顾他，终于使他的病得到了恢复。大憨老憨和小憨三个人终以喜剧性的婚礼，结束了他们的单身生活。
